Autoplacing Background grid to show measurements

DrFunkenstein
I am trying to do some floor planning for a manufacturing factory/warehouse and I am wondering if there is anyway to place a background dotted grid to show measurements if I were to present a floor plan. For example, i could input that i wanted a dotted line every 10 feet on the x and y axis. This would make the drawings much more graspable for someone who does not know the program to look at.

can you show some example?

for example, using Draw -> Line -> "Free hand line".
