Dimensions of slopes

Dear all

I have made the scheme of a roof observed from above. I use the "horizontal dimension" tool to measure the length of every timber. But since the timbers are not horizontal I have to correct the horizontal length values dividing by the cosine of the angles in the roof. Is there any automatic tool to do this task?

Not the way you are hoping for. In edit - current drawing preferences - dimensions you can set a length factor. But this applies to all dimensions in the drawing. So for just a calculation drawing it might be alright, but not for a normal plan. Anyway for  plan view from above the projected distance is the right thing, the true length of a beam can only be shown and dimensioned in the section view.
