LibreCad shuts down without warning while working on drawing.

Jim Thompson
This post was updated on .
My LibreCad sometimes shuts down while I am working on a drawing. It usually results in a loss of the drawing, or at least the last couple of minutes work.
What can I do about this please?
I have (I think) the latest version of LibreCad. Version 2.0.8-1

edit:
Since this happened the last time, several function will now not work. Such as delete and lengthen functions. i have a second drawing that I am working on meanwhile, and it is still functional in all ways to the best of my knowledge.
I tried re-installing the program in my Synaptic Package Manager - Linux Mint 17.2.
I opened a new file and started a new drawing. The same problems occur; functions like draw a line parallel and delete will not work.

To know what the latest version is: https://github.com/LibreCAD/LibreCAD/releases

If Mint is based on debian then maybe the daily PPA will work.
https://launchpad.net/~librecad-dev/+archive/ubuntu/librecad-daily

Otherwise build from source.

Thanks for the reply ravas. However, my expertise is not good enough to do any good with the links you provided for m. My ignorance.

I have now started up my older 32 bit Dell Vostro computer using Linux Mint 17.1 operating system with LibreCad version 2.0.2+xxxx installed.  I am drawing in this version without any of the problems that I have on the other  64 bit computer with the later version. So, I have a way out to keep drawing in the short term.
Of course, I still want to know what is causing the problems with the 2.0.8 version in my 64 bit computer and how to fix it, if it can be fixed.

Open a terminal and follow the instructions given on the PPA's site.

There is nothing to fix with 2.0.8; you need to upgrade.

It is starting to look to me like I should delete this version and try and find an earlier version to download.

Are there still older versions available?

I did scheduled updates in the last 24 hours. Since then, the version shown as installed when I click the "about" in an open drawing shows as:

Version: 2.2.0-alpha
Compiler: GNU GCC 4.8.4
Compiled on: Dec  5 2016
Qt Version: 5.2.1
Boost Version: 1.54.0

While in the synaptic package manager it shows this version installed:

Can you advise which version I have actually installed and that I am using?  I can't, the above is confusing to me.

LibreCad indicated version in 32 bit computer.

Meanwhile, In my older version of LibreCad that is still working fine, in the Dell Vostro 200 32 bit computer, this is what is indicated as the version installed:

In the Synaptic Package Manager:

Under the help and about toolbar/heading, it shows the same:

Partial success!

Jim Thompson
I installed the latest PPA again.
Now some of the functions that were not working before are partially working. Draw parallel lines will work below a previously drawn horizontal line, but not above.
The delete function now appears to be working.

I will try tonights PPA tomorrow. This is some improvement, but still not functional for my purposes.
