Loading GeoReferenced images

pavanmatham
Hi,

I installed LibreCAD 1.0.1 and started exploring it. My OS is Ubuntu 12.04.
I don't have any previous experience of using any CAD application.
I see it as a good application for my small GIS tasks/ digitising etc.,
I wanted to know whether it can load Geotifs/ Georeferenced images?

Thanks and regards,

Pavan

hi,

never heard of Geotifs/ Georeferenced.
If you go to "File->Import->InsertImage" you can open .tif files (and other files). Have a look at this.
This may only work in the 2.x.x version of LibreCAD.

Hi,

Thanks for your response.
Georeferenced map is a GIS related terminology....
It is better explained here http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Georeference

I wanted to load the georefernced image because these maps 'sits/ properly occupy space' exactly in its 'physical space'. And, therefore what ever modifications/ digitisation I do on this maps.. these can be used with other maps (ex. linking this digitised data with other data sets or superimposing this data on other maps).

I will try with 2.x.x and get back to you.

Thanks

Pavan
