Select Tool on Macbook Trackpad

I am new to LibreCad and trying to use on a MacBook Air running Sonoma Ver 14.0.  

I am not able to select a point off the X and Y Datum using the trackpad.  I keep being asked to enter first and second points, but when I move cursor and press track pad or the enter key, nothing happens.

Can you help
