draw to point on circle/arc

Jim Winkler
I would like to draw a line to the 90 degree point on a circle (or arc). Autocad allows one to specify this with "quadrant" or "quad". One would type "line" "quad" and then could select the 0, 90, 180, or 270 degree points on a circle or arc. Is there a way to do this with LibreCAD without drawing a construction line  to the point?  Thanks -Jim

I also found that feature useful on autocad.
While I don't know how to snap to the N,E,S,W quadrants;
you can snap to NE, SE, SW, NW with 'snap middle' activated.

I think 'Snap on Endpoints' does what you want.

I don't seem able to get "Snap to Endpoints" to select a circle's quadrants to work.
Starting from a new drawing:
Draw/circle/center, radius 0,0 with a radius of 1.
Auto zoom, zoom out a bit.
Deselect all snaps, select Snap on Endpoints
Draw/Line/2 Points
The cursor does not snap to any of the quadrants of the circle. It will allow selection of any point with only the circle present. After I draw one line (2,0 - 2,1) then click on "Selection pointer", Draw/Line/2 Points, it will only snap to the line's endpoints. Even when very close to the quadrant points of the circle and well away from the line.

Question: Am I drawing in a manner that is unusual? I.e. wanting to use a "quad" type function?
Thanks -Jim

Circle w/ lines to circle's "quadrants" or "quads"
An example of a circle with four lines. One end of each line terminating on a separate "quad". I typed the coords in as opposed to using a "snap on quad".

Following your steps it snaps for me. >_<

The only thing I can think of is that
I am using a beta version which I compiled from source code.
Maybe something has changed since the last release.

I'm using I'm using the windows version "nighttime build" 2.0.7-45-g00c66c0 on Windows 7.  Probably should have mentioned it in the beginning.  Thanks for your time. I'll wait for the next build. Jim

Wow! Thanks for all that work. Need to urge another update? I was attempting to draw a kidney shape. There are solutions missing for tangent circles which were resolved by dxli, but it has not been released either. Here. I said there were two missing, but in reality, four.

Thanks again! -Jim

I have a sorta ad hoc solution that I've used for a while.  I suspect you've already thought of it but just in case not....

I have a construction layer block of two perpendicular lines with the reference point at the intersection.

When I need to get the quadrants, I put the block on the circle using the center selection function.  Then to get the quadrants, I use the intersection function.

If you need other angles, you can rotate it when you put it in.

I end up using this quite a bit.  I'm looking forward to the update too.

You don't have to wait for a major release.

https://sourceforge.net/projects/librecad/files/?source=navbar

Your OS -> NightlyBuilds

or you can learn how to build from source:
