existence or permissions issues

TigerJet
Hello all!  Excited to have just downloaded LibreCAD on my Windows laptop except when I tried to open a file created in AutoCAD, i got an error about existence or permissions.

I couldn't figure out how to solve my issue after searching so i'm looking for help.

I tried to access this file by clicking 'open' within LibreCAD.

Maybe someone can send me a .dwg file that should open fine so that I can test whether it is the file or the program?

Thanks!

DWG support is still very rudimentary in LibreCAD, so chances are big, that libdxfrw, our import/export library, fails to read the DWG file. Sadly the error detection and reporting is not existent too, so that the error message is misleading.

If you have access to AutoCAD, it's recommend to save the drawing in DXF format, which is much better supported yet.

When your DWG drawing doesn't contain any secret parts, you can post it here, so we can take a look where the import fails.

investing less than half an hour into Search function can save hours or days of waiting for a solution
