part library not loading

tio_pepe
Hi, i installed LibreCad 2.0.10 Portable but i cannot load blocks, when i go to edit->app preferences->path and modify the library path, it doesn't update the path (is it stored in the registry which i don't have access?). That would be a bug for the Portable anyway.
Then i copy all my *.dxf files to the 'part libraries' path' to no avail, i start Librecad with '--debug' and spits nothing, so how is portable such crippled a software?
Is there a way to run Librecad without administrator privileges and skip the portable version or having to build Librecad from source?
Thanks!

I was also struggling with the part libraries.
You must create a subfolder in your part libaries path and copy the dxf files in the subfolder.
You will see the subfolder name in the Library Browser pane.

Yes, i read thoughfully the documentation on blocks and did the same, with the final slash and all, but the portable version which i'm running seems pretty broken to me in this regard.
Now i'm wondering to build LibreCad to get rid of this portable since i'm experiencing coredumps when i load some files.

Where are you downloading this "Portable" version?

http://portableapps.com/apps/graphics_pictures/librecad-portable

It would be great if a zip was uploaded to SF along with the current installer for people like me with no privileges.

To answer your question... yes it is stored in the registry (on Windows).
I don't think lordofbikes is offering portable versions;
therefore, you aren't using a package created by a LibreCAD team member.
Trusting that source is your choice, and we can't really help with fixing it,
unless that packager becomes part of the discussion.

I know you can created portable versions with windeployqt;
although, I haven't tried for LibreCAD...
lordofbikes would need to comment about this.

The PortableApps project takes windows applications and prepares them to get installed on a pen drive. They should take care of all the registry and permission issues. If this is your purpose, you should ask there for help as this isn't our business.

We build LibreCAD to run on desktop machines and supply installer for this purpose, you find them on our sf.net account.
https://sourceforge.net/projects/librecad/files/Windows/
It is recommend to use these installers unless you really need a portable installation.

The --debug switch doesn't work on Windows as a GUI application doesn't have access to the terminal it was started from. This works only on unix like systems.
