remove common lines in a drawing

normale52
Only started to learn today. Doing OK but, say I make an L shape by drawing two rectangles which touch. How do I remove the bit of line which is common to both rectangles?
Many thanks for your patience if this is trivial.

A rectangle drawn by the "Rectangle" command is a polyline, one entity, and doesn't respond to a trim command. You have to "Explode" it first. Then you can use "Trim" or "Trim Two" and then delete the remaining line. There is no automatic removal of lines or line segments which lie upon the other.
