2.2.0-rc2 fails to install on BigSur 11.1

Catalys
Well, I lost my patience after 30 minutes looking at the white "welcome" window.
Any suggestions?

Many thanks for reporting this.
Have you tried older packages too?
It's important to know, if this is a problem with -rc2 only or if the older packages fail too.

I added messages to the download sites to warn other Mac users.

The M1-Chip is bleeding edge in the Mac world, nor do we have test hardware for this nor a maintainer with that hadware/macOS version.
Even better, that you reported this.

It will be a while before we can fix this, depending on when we find a maintainer or get appropriate hardware.
If anyone feels addressed, don't hesitate to get in touch.

Re: Test new macOS package

Hello. I have just downloaded the V2 dmg package and installed it on a machine running Big Sur 11.1.

The package appears to install OK but does not present a user interface. checking its status (click and hold on dock icon) shows the app to be "Not Responding" and offers the option to "Force Quit".

Activity monitor shows the app to be burning 99.8% processor!

CPU tab:

I tried the rc1, with identical result.
I will try older packages and report back.

They were all build in the same environment, so I expect same results, don't put too much effort in this.
The question for me was if something happened to that environment.
But as rc1 worked so far, I assume issues with Big Sur or M1-Chip.
I'm curious about the hardware of recumberic, maybe this brings new insights.

Hi @Lord and @Catalys

I also had problem on 2.2-0.rc-2 .dmg on my MacBook Pro i7, Big Sur 11.1.
Application start hanging and does not start.
Same problem on 2.2.0.rc-1

No problem, with vers 2.1.3.

I compiled source code from from 2.2.0-rc.2
https://librecad.readthedocs.io/en/latest/appx/build.html

And the LibreCad.app compiled is working.
Let me know if I can share it or do you need other info.

Thanks

Many thanks @savokov for your efforts.

I can't prove this, but my assumption is not the app, but some libraries may be missing or different on Big Sur.
So the app itself wouldn't solve this issue.

If you want to give it a try, there is a build-osx.sh script in the scripts folder.
When you open a terminal and change to the LibreCAD/scrips folder, you can run this script with ./build-osx.sh.
If everything runs well, this should result in a LibreCAD.dmg file in the LibreCAD root folder.
This package should contain everything needed to deploy it on Big Sur.
When this succeeds you can get in touch how to send it to me and I can publish it on the download sites then.

LibreCAD & Mac BigSpur

Bernsidekiwi
In reply to this post by Catalys
I have tried various different sources and versions but Mac's BigSpur operating system will not allow LibreCAD to be installed. Mac OS wants to immediately put the installer and the DMG into the trash. Until Apple recognises LibreCAD as a legitimate software you will not be able to use it if you have installed BigSpur.

I was trying with V2.2 in my MacBook Pro M1 and you can not even open it. I went back again with V2.1.3. I hope you can fix this soon :)

2.2.0 RC2 does not like my Intel 2015 MacBook Pro with macOS 11.1. It hangs with a blank outline of the Welcome screen.

2.1.3 seems fine. I'm new to LibreCAD, but I can at least draw a few rectangles, save, close and re-open the document.

I've got a new DMG package which was build by a community member on Big Sur, but not on a M1 system.
Many thanks!
It can be  downloaded now from Sourceforge and GitHub.

Please report success or failure here.

Chiming in that this is working on my Macbook Pro with the M1. Hopefully this isn't a necro post, there is a link to it in the downloads page to report success/failure.
