Dimension is never the same as line length?

Bobg
I've just started using LibreCad. I want to be able to make a line a specific length.  I make the line the length I want it, but when I add the dimension it's never the same as the line length.  I'm beginning to think that the cross hairs make it hard to get exactly on the beginning and end point.  Is there a better way to add the dimension?

Have you tried snapping the first end-point to something ?

Cheers,

Could you explain what you mean?

I've just started using LibreCad and have watched a few tutorials, but this is one that I couldn't find.

Try enabling Free Snap and Snap Endpoints.
Or just use Snap Endpoints and then disable it after selecting both endpoints.
