Line is invisible while drawing or editing

JimZinVT
Hi - I'm an occasional user of LibreCAD, just a few small projects a year. Today I opened it up for the first time in months, and updated to the latest version before I started my project.

I hope I'm describing this clearly.....

Previously, when drawing or editing lines, I could see a dotted image of the line while working with it. That was very helpful, as I could see exactly where the line would be, what angle it was laying at, etc. Today I wasn't seeing that, so editing and adjusting line position was kind of hit-or-miss; I couldn't tell if I got it right until I clicked to finalize the move, and often had to repeat several times to tweak the positioning.
Also, I seem to recall that when moving or rotating an object I used to see a dotted "ghost image" that allowed easy accurate positioning.

Is there a setting or maybe a line color choice that I'm missing that's hiding this feature? Any suggestions are appreciated.

- Jim

Version 2.0.8.....or is it 5.4.1
compiled 8/24/15
Windows 10

I still don't quite get what the bug is.

1, start LC;
2, type in command: line
3, click the first point;
4, move the mouse pointer around.

do you mean the preview line is missing?

can you test download the nightly builds and try?

What color do you have the background set to?

Background color is set to white, #ffffff

I followed the link in your reply, but didn't see a solution there. (I'm close to illiterate when it comes to code and programming)

Exactly....the preview is missing (that's the word I was grasping for).

I can try the nightly build tomorrow night.....it's midnight, I'm out.

The white background is the problem.
Change it to black and you will see the preview.
This is something that needs to be fixed.

Keep preview color either black or white

Select the one with larger difference in r,g, and b

I don't see anywhere to change the "preview" color.

When I go into application preferences and change the background to black, everything disappears. I guess I would need to change all the other colors to contrast with the black? That's too much work, and I much prefer working on a white background anyway.

When I'm in "print preview" mode there is a button to "toggle black/white mode".....but it doesn't do anything.

This definitely worked correctly in an earlier version so something has changed. I haven't had time to try the latest nightly build but will try this weekend and see if it's any different.

In an unrelated annoyance, when I opened LibreCAD tonight everything was in Italian (I think). Yes, really.
I can't read Italian, so I can't figure out how to change it back <roll eyes>

After you change the background to black, just zoom in or out and the color automatically changes.

Downloading a nightly build won't change anything until we change the code.
I'll let you know when that happens.

If you can find your way back to application preferences,
the language option is at the bottom of the first (left most) tab.

Thanks, I found the English setting. Must have touched that menu while I was messing with the color settings.

I appreciate all the help. It's fantastic to have a powerful CAD program like this available to the general public. I will be making a donation when that option is available again.

This is fixed in the latest 2.0 or master nightly build.

According to the webmaster we have received more than enough to keep the website running,
which is the real reason why the donation link is not available.

However, I would be grateful for and encouraged by any donations.
Anyone inspired to donate can request a link through my forum profile.
Donations will go toward buying a Mac so that I can test, troubleshoot and support more users.
