librecad release goals for 1.0

maqifrnswa
Hello all,

dxli is doing an awesome job adding a tremendous amount of new
capabilities and cleaning up code. The project is looking great!

From a release managment point of view, we should make a list of goals
that we'd like done for release of version 1.0. We're already at RC3,
and RC4 is around the corner (new fonts).

When this list is done, we'll be ready for release 1.0 (please add
more to this list):

1) New & free fonts
2) dxli: is the ellipse work close to being finished?
3) include plug-ins as part of the binary distribution (i.e. add
plugins as a SUBDIR in librecad.pro?)

post 1.0
1) documentation (the new wiki is a good start)

We should consider what is important for 1.0, or we'll end up with
lots of release candidates which are really introducing new features
rather than polishing a release.

Cheers,
Scot

Re: librecad release goals for 1.0

Hello,

First of all, I want to get support of Chinese fonts. Rallaz told me he need some help on adding chinese fonts. I am Chinese, so I help on this part.

By default, my ellipse work only goes to master branch. Ries did port my new ellipse engine part back to the 1.0.0-SNAPSHOT branch. I can further review the code of ported part.

Other than that, I know this ellipse bug ( http://sourceforge.net/tracker/index.php?func=detail&aid=3420918&group_id=342582&atid=1433844 ) still not fixed in the RC branch. I can:

1, ignore it;
2, do a minor fix to correct the math of the ellipse painter;
3, port the new draw() functions back to RC branch.

I don't want to go the way (3), because the new draw() functions is quite invasive.

I can finish the reviewing process in weekends. Therefore, there should be no blocker from my part.

Ok, so the general consensus is to finish the fonts (including
Chinese) and hold ellipse features and documentation to post 1.0?

That sounds good for me

Re: librecad release goals for 1.0

Hello all,

I have been testing whether I can fix bug#3388965 in 1.0.0-SNAPSHOT by some minor changes. I found it's not easy to fix the line patterns within the old framework, just as I found last time when I had to rewrite the draw() functions and line patterns.

So, the choices left, either we ignore bug#3388965 or port new draw() functions to 1.0.0-SNAPSHOT.

Hello,

I ported new draw() methods from master back to rc branch. Of course, in my repository only:

https://github.com/dxli/LibreCAD/commits/rc/

We need to decide whether we should merge this to 1.0.0-SNAPSHOT.

Thanks,

Dongxu Li
