Reopen the file and it is blank

Andrdew Gentry
Did several hours of work and saved many times.
When I open the file again it is blank.
Also imported and image.  When I reopened the file the image was gone but the outline of the image was there.

Hello and welcome!

What LibreCAD version did you use, what is your Operating System? Check also in LibreCAD, that you are not in Draft mode, it has caused lot of confusion.

Also ensure that file options is dxf drawing exchange in the open dialog.

If qcad 1.x then files will be blank

Yes it is in dxf format.  also noticed that in draft mode the commands work but you cannot see your image.
When you turn off draft mode the image appeaars but most commands don't work.
Now that I reopened the file the image is gone.   If I put it in draft mode, the image outline appears but no image.

I use 2.2.0 version and Microsoft windows.

Whether in or out of draft mode the information is gone.

Import an image and it later disappears

Andrdew Gentry
I imported and image such as jpeg. I could see the image with draft mode turned off and not with it on.
I did work and saved the file several times.  when I reopen the file the image is gone. In draft mode the image outline is visable but not the image. with draft mode off the whole image is gone.

Is the image in the drawing file or is it like autocad where the image is x-ref into the drawing file from another location.

the work I did was over the image.  Both image and work is gone.  Is that a clue.

Image file appears to be x-ref into the drawing file.  Image is on thumb drive.  With thumb drive removed the drawing cannot find the Image.  With the thumb drive inserted it finds the Image.

Yes, in LibreCAD an image file always is an x-ref, it cannot be stored inside the dxf.
If you place the image file or a copy of it into the same folder with the dxf it will always be found.

In Draft Mode text is simplified to boxes and bitmap images and hatches are not shown to speed up screen rendering. An image is indicated as outline though.

Have you solved the issue with blank drawing, lost work?
