Separately Specifying the X and Y Coordinates of an Extension Line Origin

Howdy!

I'm trying to keep my dimension lines external to a shape that contains internal details I'm dimensioning. I remember many years ago that in AutoCAD, I could specify the X and Y coordinates of an extension line origin separately which would allow me to use snap modes to find the distance of the point being dimensioned while keeping the dimension lines outside of the larger part. Is there some way to do this in LibreCAD?

In Options - Current Drawing Preferences you can set a fixed length for extension lines.

 

Well, I have just found out another method that might fit your needs better. The aforementioned fixed lengths can only apply to all dimensions in a drawing. If you want to shorten the extension lines only for certain dimensions, you can do this manually on strictly horizontal and vertical dimensions. Select the dimension by clicking on it, and move the small coloured squares marking the origin by mouse, but with movement restricted orthogonally!
