Any news on "media Wiki" yet?

Hi guys

Ries - I see you have the site up and running again, hooray!

Some questions:

1. I know I keep asking the same question but just wondering if you have any more news about the " Media Wiki"? Because I could make a start on some basic tutorials/how to`s etc. I dont really want to post them here - do I?

Or is it better to wait until version 2 is out?

2.When do you think version 2 might get released - are we looking at weeks or months?

Cave,

lot me poke the guy again that currently has the wiki. Else I can install a media wiki,

but I have no idea about media wiki, how it works or how to set it up. I was hoping

to get something 'working' :D

FOr version 2 release, DLI know the answer but I expect at least months.

Of course -just the Librewiki would be fine until you can set up the "media" wiki.

Yes poke,shove etc the guy again , so at least I can have an account on the Wiki you currently have, at least I could use that for now for making a start on some stuff or help out with any other documentation maybe!

admittedly, I know zero to nothing about wiki's so I was wondering

and shamelessly asking would you like to do wiki admin for LibreCAD?? :)

Essentially we need to have a place where we can create a manual that we eventually

can include into LibreCAD's help system, and we need to beable to generate a PDF

for that aswell.

For PDF generation the though was to use publican that

can also generate very nice documentation pages.

Here is such example : http://docs.redhat.com/docs/en-US/Red_Hat_Enterprise_Linux/6/html/6.0_Release_Notes/index.html

The reason why i think publican would be very nice is because w iki is not very well suitable

for documentation. At some point, wiki's tend to get messy with outdated and updated information all together.

THis is something we need to learn and figure out And my suggestion is we

create a special wiki section to make documentation for a branch of LibreCAD

For example 2.0.x and we only put the user manual into that. When we release

new versions, we can copy that to a 2.1.x version, and update it it… etc etc.

This way, we keep things nice, clear and organised.

I am open to suggestions! If you need a special account on media wiki, let

met know.

Good news you have the Wiki up and running. Yes I think a special section is needed only for documentation, so this can be added and updated for the release of Version 2.0 and subsequent release candidates!

PDF generation is definitely needed and "Publican" may be the answer! I`ll leave that to you.

We can try it, it can also generate a proper set of web based help pages,

not like a wiki where you just have links, but it includes a index etc.

Sure, please do!

Like I said, I am now to the wiki stuff..

My professional specialization are CMS systems like Jahia and TYPO3,

so a wiki just looks clumsy to me :D btu willing to give it a shot
