Black background

Another newbie question.

I can't find how to change the color of the background working page.  The newly installed program gives me a black background with white lines.  Is there a way to reverse this for black lines on a white or whatever color background?

Main Menu > Application Preferences > Appearence > Colours > Background ... and change to #FFFFFF.

Thanks.  Looked at that page at least 10 times.  I was blind and now I can see...
