Brazilian Portuguese Translation

bgpiraja
Hi for all!

I'm translating and reviewing LibreCAD to Brazilian Portuguese. The github generated a fork for me. Is it normal? It's the first time that I use a fork at github.

If I'm in the correct way, send me feedback saying thats OK.

If not, help me.

Thanks,

I will have a look, and clearly, we need a detailed wiki page on wiki.librecad.org on translation.

Thanks,

Re: Brazilian Portuguese Translation

@dxli, I've handled this, the changes are on the translation server and committed on github

@bgpiraja, I've closed your pull request on github, because I added your changes manually to our translation server. After adding this changes I updated the LibreCAD repo to fetch the changes to github.

You can now update your fork by
git pull origin master
but you should use the fork for coding only. The changes are modified by the translation server, thus you should reset your fork before pulling or use the -f switch on the pull command to force the override of your local changes.

To work on translation the preferred method is the translation server. On the server we have a script to sync the translations with github. This is to avoid conflicts when several people work on one language.

I've also changed the permissions of your pootle account, thus you should be able now to add and accept translations on the translation server. Don't be scared about the spam suggestions, ignore or delete them. I know it's a Sisyphean task, I did it with the German translation.

If you have any questions about the translation server, don't hesitate to ask me.

Many thanks for contributing.

Re: Brazilian Portuguese Translation

bgpiraja
Armin,

Thanks a lot for this help. Is it necessary that I have an account on Github? Can I translate normally just with the Pootle? At moment I don't know how to use github system. First I just tried to use.

Re: Brazilian Portuguese Translation

Hi Bruno,

you don't need a github account for translating. Only coders who want to contribute in coding need a github account. It's enough for you to translate on the pootle server.

Syncing the pootle server with github is done by us, you don't have to care about this. But you have to watch the github repo to see when your translation was synced.
If you can build LibreCAD from source, you can download the source code without github account or fork. Then you can see your translations immediately after build.
If you can't build LibreCAD from source, you have to look for daily builds which are available for Linux or wait for new released installer packages on SourceForge for all OS.

Re: Brazilian Portuguese Translation

Hi Bruno,

the translation files are build in the postprocess script, which should be called at the end of the application build process and is located in the scripts folder. Which script is used depends on your operating system.

This script calls the lrelease tool which generate qm files from the ts files. The qm files, librecad_??.qm and plugins_??.qm should be in the resources/qm/ folder inside the application folder. So you can check, if these files are up to date. Replace the ?? with the code of your language.

You can generate the qm files manually with the Qt Linguist tool. Open a ts file in Qt Linguist and use File->Release to generate the associated qm file. Copy the qm files into the resources/qm folder to use it.

Beside the LibreCAD qm files you need a qt_??.qm file. LibreCAD uses standard dialogs from Qt libraries, e.g. the file open/save dialogs. The button labels are still in English, if you don't have the qt_??.qm file. You have to look on the Qt site or your Qt installation if there is a localisation file for your language. If a qm file exists, copy it into the resources/qm folder too. If there is no qt_??.qm file for your language, one option is to find the qt_en.ts file in the Qt sources, copy it to qm_??.ts and translate it with Qt Linguist.

Hope, this answers some of your questions.
