Change the line style of an existing object

I have drawn a rectangle with solid lines (the default). Now I would like to change the line style to dashed lines.
I can see how to change the line style of new objects, but what about existing ones?

Tools - Modify - Properties for a single entity.
Tools - Modify - Attributes for several entities, close selection with Enter.
