Are there any plans to incorporate the use of standard .pat files for hatching into LibreCAD?
The situation at present is that hatching created in LibreCAD's own unique format is lost when a LibreCAD generated DXF file is imported into other CAD software. Likewise hatching created in other CAD software using standard .pat files is lost when the DXF file generated by that CAD software is imported into LibreCAD.
Yes, first let me say I'm not suggesting that .pat files are necessarily better than LibreCAD's native method of handling hatch patterns.
It is simply the case that .pat files are a common standard that most other CAD software recognises.
I think one of the keys to maximising the number of users adopting LibreCAD is to maximise compatiblity. That is an approach that has benefitted LibreOffice for example.
