How do i change the value of dimension

zabaelo
How do i change the value of dimensions, for example when its 12cm, how do i make it say like 10cm while keeping the same drawing. Its like i wanted to fake dimensions. Sorry if this is obvious but im very new and been making only very basic drawings.

You can override the real dimension value during drawing the dimension in the Tool Options bar above the drawing area, often overseen.
Or manipulate an existing dimensions via Tools - Modify - Properties.

First Step
Create a regular dimension, I mean this is the true one

Second Step
Select tools --> Modify --> Explode
Select the dimension line which want you want to change the value and press enter

Final Step
Edit the value -->Modify -->properties
Select the number of dimension which want you want to edit

Step 2 is unnecessary. It breaks the relation between the basic dimension entities.

When you use Properties on the dimension direct, you can enter a label which will replace the value.
With intact relations it is also possible to modify the selected dimension.
In selected state there are various blue dots which could be dragged with left mouse button to modify the existing dimension.

When the X/Y ratio of the drawing is okay, you can also play with dimension settings in Current Drawing Preferences.
There is a Length Factor, which will be applied to all dimensions.
E.g. enter 100/120 as Length Factor and the 120 unit dimension will display 100.
And all other dimensions will be scaled by the same factor too.

Or select all and use Modify -> Scale to make the drawing 1:1 size.
This will change dimension labels too.
investing less than half an hour into Search function can save hours or days of waiting for a solution

Thanks LordOfBikes

Step 2, explode, is unnecessary.
Use properties and enter label to replace the value.
