As I understand it, you select an object (such as polyline, circle etc.) and choose "Create Hatch" on the left-menu, then right-arrows for "continue action", which pops up the dialogue asking which pattern you want to fill the object with (check the "enable preview" box to show what the pattern will look like, and select a pattern from the drop downmenu).

Three possible errors during this operation.

1 -If nothing appears after that, check the command line area. Sometimes the area is not really closed, so hatch does not work. Command line shows you the exact point of opening. It is generally caused when we draw lines and the snap option is not the ideal one.

2 - If no messages are shown and hatch does not appear, check hatch scale. If it is too big relative to the drawing, there is the problem.

3 - Slow PC. Hatch is one of the heaviest operations. Try waiting a few seconds for completing the operation. Hint: Watch your system-monitor, if you are running Ubuntu.
