LibreCAD "not responding"

Hi.

When trying to open a drawing that was working perfectly the previous day I get "LibreCAD is not responding".
Out of curiosity I left the drawing up, went about other things, and came back an hour later. Nothing has changed. The wheel is still spinning.
The drawing had been saved and closed correctly after the prior use.
Any ideas?

BTW;
After several hours of the "spinning wheel" I "saved" (my only option as far as I could see), the wheel continued to spin on and on, for an hour or so, but I had to exit. Tried to re-open the drawing and it had completely disappeared. No evidence it had ever existed.

Search for a backup file:
#filename.dxf or filename.dxf~
In the latter case remove the ~.
