Modify>Divide from the command line

licomol
Version 2.1.3
Debian 10

I would like to use Modify>Divide from the command line.
I type divide and get a prompt "specify entity to cut", is there a way to select an entity from the command line?
After selecting with the cursor comes "specify cutting point" which I have tried to introduce like I would when creating a line, but it doesn't seem to work as I keep getting the prompt "specify cutting point" over and over

Example:

->divide
specify entity to cut
->(I select entity by clicking entity)
specify cutting point
-> 0,5
specify cutting point
-> 0,5
...

I have tested it, and indeed, neither selecting an entity nor specifying the cutting point works via command line. Darn!
