Moving/copying entities from one layer to another

I'm surprise : I posted my question a few hours ago, and I cant find it out...

Is there a mean to copy/move an entity (block ?) from the layer where it has been created to another, where I want to work on it without modifying the original one ?

Set a new layer current
menu "Modify->move/copy"
...
In "Move/Copy Options" dialog chek "keep original" to copy instead move
to no modify original entity, and check "use current layer" to put new
entity in current layer instead in original layer.

Yeeeeessss ! So the solution was NOT Edit/Copy and Edit/Paste... We have such reflexes !

Seemed like what I wanted to know ... but ... what 'Move/Copy Options Dialog'?  I see no such thing anywhere.

Found in different thread.

After selecting, hit Enter.  (Numeral keyboard enter does not work.  Use the Alpha keyboard enter.)

Click on a reference point.

Click on a target point.  (Bob's your uncle, there's the options dialog!)

Non-intuitive?  Yes, I think so.  But I'll catch on.  Eventually.

I have been trying to copy a block from one layer to another, following these steps, for nearly an hour and I cannot get it to work. The block appears to be copied, but when I hide the layer I copied it from, it disappears. The really odd thing is, if I hide the layer I copied it TO, it ALSO disappears. It shows only if both layers are visible. This is no use for what I'm trying to do. What is going on?

Edit the "block definition" and change the properties of all the entities to layer 0 & color, linetype & width "byblock"
