My menu bar doesn't match the tutorial?

Hi, I'm completely new to CAD systems and am trying to work my way through the tutorial but my menu bar doesn't match what it's asking me to do. I've got as far as click on "modify" but can't find the option? Should I perhaps download an earlier version or is there an option that I need to change?

The tutorial is a bit outdated. The user interface has changed a lot meanwhile. But all the tools still exist, just may be placed at a different position. So go through all menus until you have found what you are looking for. If you really can't find something, ask, I can tell you. Don't waste your time learning an older version, the recent one is much improved.
What do you miss under "modify"?

Hi dellus, thanks for the response. I can't get the properties box to come up so that I can actually modify something.

After clicking "properties" you have to select the object by clicking on it, then the box will come up. Selection before the operation doesn't work. Does this solve it?
