New to Cad

hello , old guy and new to CAD steep learning curve! I will use search as much as possible I imported a DXF file from a Leica X-6/Disto app and the dimensions show as a box. I drew a rectangle and tried to dimension it and got same result. I checked the various help menus and searched on the forum, still no joy.

I may not have explained myself clearly. I found exactly what you found and read through a great many of them, none of them have corrected the issue.
