I think this will be improved for version 2.0 but you could as a
'workaround' for now:

1.Create e.g polygon.

2.From polyline tools > create polyline from segments > select and 'double'
click on a line to produce a closed polyline!

3.Then use the polyline equidistant tool.

As I say this will I`m sure be improved.

Actually Hans

Thinking about it what might be easier is just using the modify > scale tool. Just use the center of your shape as the reference point and in the 'scale' options window - keep original and scale down/up to your required size.

*Note: you will need to select everything in order to use the scale tool and after selecting everything and activating the scale tool -just hit enter when you get the 'No entity selected' prompt.You will then get prompted for your reference point.
