Snap Middle Choices [Solved]

I am using LibreCAD
Version: 2.1.2
Compiler: GNU GCC 6.2.0
Compiled on: Sep 17 2016
Qt Version: 5.9.5
Boost Version: 1.62.0
System: Linux Mint 19

In at least two threads (eg. http://forum.librecad.org/Divide-Existing-line-into-quot-n-quot-equal-parts-td5713619.html#a5713644 )
reference is made to using "Snap Middle" and choosing different divisions. How does one go about this?
Selecting "snap middle" using the snap icons provides no choice of divisions.
Is this function deprecated since 2016? I find nowhere in the interface to make such a choice.

Still getting used to situations where and when variable attributes are displayed: sometimes its in the top widget area, sometimes in a dialogue box etc.
