@Claus this one is for you really!

I have an idea that you may like. How about instead of re-creating a manual which as you say Bob has done - start to write a step by step beginners course which actually takes a beginner through lots of examples and if they get stuck at any time, well they can ask questions related to the course here on the forum!

You could submit new parts of the course on a weekly or part basis. This would give beginners something to follow and would be 'real'.
I know you have done something like this with your little house tutorial but if you write something like this in a similar friendly style and include many 'work along' examples I'm sure people will follow along.
Once you get started you will be surprised how many people will help you and answer questions here on the forum too.
