Use raw data from survey data collector

Does Librecad support the use of data collectors commonly used by land surveyors?

If "data collectors commonly used" are a Psion2 then YES
If is a Topcon total station, each series uses a different format
and can solve using toptrans.

You can import points in LibreCAD using a plugin installed in
"File->Import->read ascii points"
Select a file and a correct format like:

Supported formats are:
comma separated like (code not mandatory):
nn,xx.xx,yy.yy,zz.zz,code

tab separated (like above changing comma by tab)
space separated and .obd from Psion 2

That option is grayed out for me and a search of the Wiki for 'import' doesn't return anything. Are there better docs for LibreCad? I know they're looking for contributors but is there a source of information anywhere which explains the usage even if it isn't easily digestible? This was forked from QCad right? Are their docs still mostly relevant to Librecad or are they too different at this point?

i have no experience on plugin, Rallaz is the one.

i think most qcad docs are still useful for concepts, except the added features in the 2.0 series.

Then you have a LibreCAD v1 for windows

If you download and install LC v2 you can have this plugin
http://sourceforge.net/projects/librecad/files/Windows/2.0.0alpha3/LibreCAD-Installer_2.0.0alpha3.exe/download

Remember this version is functional but alpha stage, you can install in other directory and use test both versions

An alpha4 version coming soon

I actually have v1 for Linux (installed from Ubuntu software center). Does what you said still apply? Should I just install v2 for this functionality?

For ubuntu daily build on Ubuntu, have a look the PPA:

I added the ppa, updated, and upgraded but didn't get v2. I have 1.01 now. Says it was compiled Feb 21st, 2012. How do I get v2? Preferably w/o compiling myself as I would prefer to get updates automatically instead of keeping up with it.

I am wondering about the package names:

apt-get update
apt-cache search librecad
