How do I get something newer than LC 1.01 from the software repository. I figured apt-get install would give me something newer than the 1.01?
Anyway, I ran into the problem about saving my work to find out later that nothing was saved to the .lff or .llf or whatever.... So, I'm going to remove 1.01 and wait for a reply. I think I'm running Ubuntu 12.0+ using KDE desktop. Unless it really matters, let's just say I'm good on Ubuntu version and up-to-date. I just want the most stable release so I can learn how to use LibreCad and save my work. Someone please advise. jw |
Try this repository: ppa:librecad-dev/librecad-stable
instructions: http://librecad.org/cms/home/installation/linux.html |
Okay, I can handle that! What stable version do you recommend? I'm just learning how to use it. I've got a project to start on. Thanks for the instructions. On Sun, Oct 6, 2013 at 4:55 AM, cantcode [via LibreCAD] <[hidden email]> wrote: Try this repository: ppa:librecad-dev/librecad-stable |
"What stable version do you recommend?"
If you are working on commercial or very important things I would suggest version 1.0.3 (that's the stable version of Librecad at the moment ->ppa:librecad-dev/librecad-stable ) If you like to have some new features and don't mind finding some bugs, you could try the release candidate of the 2.0.0 version (->ppa:librecad-dev/librecad-daily or build it yourself http://librecad.org/cms/home/from-source/linux.html) |
Thank you. That is kinda what I had narrowed it down to, but I wasn't sure what (if any) versions where in between. Maybe this topic will help others like me who are new to LibreCad and are not sure what version to install. I scanned the forum messages for the answers to these question and did not find anything, so that is why I asked. I'm good to go....On Sun, Oct 6, 2013 at 4:53 PM, cantcode [via LibreCAD] <[hidden email]> wrote:

I actually tagged 1.0.4, and we should be able to make deb packages available soon. I'm also aiming to release 2.0.0 as stable in coming weeks. |

Well, I just had a hard time seeing the instructions but they are there. I guess the .../librecad-daily was throwing me off. On Mon, Oct 7, 2013 at 10:35 AM, John Wright <[hidden email]> wrote:

Okay, I removed, added, upgraded... and now it shows under => Help -> About that it is version 1.0.2. Hum? Here is a snipit of the "apt-get install librecad". Looks like it unpacked 1.0.3. all right.
I'm going to remove and install again and see what it does. I think this is a "bug".
I also installed the 1.0.3 version from the same repository and it also tells me 1.0.2. If you go to the Software Center in ubuntu and search for librecad and select it. You should see that under the description of LibreCAD the line starting with "Version" it says something including 1.0.3. |
Yeah, appears so. I can save my work now. Thanks for all the help! On Tue, Oct 8, 2013 at 3:44 PM, cantcode [via LibreCAD] <[hidden email]> wrote: I think this is a "bug". |
