copying object to another layer

I have tried to copy an object to another layer (layer 0 to create a block) but it always changes attributes of the object to layer 0 attributes (colour, pen width). Even when I tick or untick Use Current Attributes. Whatever I do I can't seem to copy the object and keep its attributes.

Did you try the recent 2.2.1 release candidate?

Iirc, we fixed this issue in 2.2.1

Thanks. I'm not quite sure how I download from github (I'm not tech) and sourceforge does not have this release yet for Windows x64. I also noticed that it may fix the print bug, where print preview or print exits out of the drawing?
