hatch fill not complete

I am a learner.  
I tried to fill the area between these rectangles.  The fill does not complete.
Is there some way to specify a color?

Color is defined by pen color when created. Or change afterwards with Attributes.

My next problem is how to change from the solid fill to a pattern,  I thought maybe attributes, but I selected the two lines and went to attributes but it only gives general for the drawing.

In Properties - Choose Hatch Attributes you can take out the the tick in Solid Fill. What LibreCAD version do you use? In 2.1.3 then the hatch will disappear completely, this is a bug. In 2.2.0 rc this has been fixed, but in exchange you get weird results there when changing from a pattern to a solid fill. Sorry.
