how to distribute objects evenly along an axis

Dear gurus!

I have a line with eg 13cm length and want to distribute an object evenly eg 12 times along this line. The distance between the objects is a very ugly periodical number (divide 13 by 12). Now I could truncate/round this number and use the move/copy command to distribute the objects. I find this not very nice. Is there an other way to spread objects evenly in a specific range?

Thanks in advance for help!

do you mean to move the object to the line center and rotated to the line direction?

1, select the object;
2, Modify->Move/Copy;
3, select the center of the object as reference point (snap to middle);
4, select the center of the line as target point to move to;
5, accept movement and "delete the old"

you can do similar Move/Copy to rotate the object to line direction as well.
