linux mint 19.3 librecad 2.2 dimension text is missing - shows empty box

Hi all, I downloaded and installed Librecad from the software depository, it runs OK, except that I cannot get the dimension text to work. An empty box appears between the dimension lines instead of the numbers. I can change the settings of the application preferences and change the size of the box, but no numbers. Would anyone know howto get it to display numbers. I used Librecad several years ago and dimensioning wasn't a problem. Thanks for your time, Denis

This issue has caught so many people, including me, that it should be addressed in the interface. People don't seem to experience it at the start but early on, before they are familiar with accessing help. Maybe the draft button needs to flash and jump around the screen with a "press me" message. lol
I have a file where the text appears as empty boxes but it is not in draft mode. It is as if it is permanently in draft mode though. Is there a way of restoring the text?

Update update: Text has disappeared again. I created a completely different file and placed some text. I zoomed in then panned around and, hey presto, the text became an empty box. Looks like it's the Pan command that does it.
Upgrading to 2.2.0.1, the panning problem still happens but closing and re-opening restores the text.
