Yes, it is currently in progress. There are some licensing issues that
are being worked out. See
http://blog.librecad.org/2011/04/adding-dwg-support/

Currently there is some experimental support you can see at:
https://github.com/rvt/LibreCAD/tree/dwgsupport

Once the licensing issue is worked out (and we have communication from
the libredwg developers that it will be worked out), we can fully
implement dwg support.
