Hi everyone.
I've been pulled away from focusing on LibreCAD for at least a month or two because of a ridiculous work load in other areas. That also means I can't thoroughly document LibreCAD features for the manual for a while, either.
So I've opened the
LibreCAD Wiki for public edits, and also opened public account creation.
The Good News:
- The wiki gets a
lot of traffic, particularly for a part of the internet that hasn't been linked or announced anywhere (a lot being > 1k original visits a week). Most hits directed to the wiki pages are from the search strings "librecad manual" and "librecad wiki", in that order, coming from Google, Yahoo, Ask and Bing. So this should be legitimate traffic, not spam bots, which means public edits shouldn't be as dangerous as I originally thought they would be.
The Bad News:
- Until I can get back to organizing content into a coherent format the wiki may become a big blob or unorganized knowledge. If this starts to happen I will get down to organizing the content around December, so don't worry too much if the wiki starts growing hair. Anyway, unorganized knowledge is better than no knowledge at all, so I don't view this as so much of a problem as just part of the necessarily messy wiki building process.
If you have some spare time and feel the urge to write a quick explanation of a bite-sized subject (like "what is a spline?" or something similar) or a quick HowTo, please drop by!
The current canonical URL for the wiki is
http://zxq9.com/librecad/wiki/ . If we move it in the future or re-map the URLs this will always be a safe redirection URL to use.
