Yes absolutely, use whatever helps to get the job done! Auxiliary constuction lines, points and other references are in my opinion an essential and necessary part of any drafting process.

For me I tend to set up a different layer called construction - with a different colour and work on this layer for construction lines etc. then when I`m done just "turn off" the layer.
