the "fixed" box means that the extension line offset is fixed, so that you can put the dimension near or far the draw that the line has always the same offset.

look at the picture my friend, I hope you understand what I mean... I am not good at explaining, this is the reason that bring me to post so many images when I post some request/suggestion.
