Try Ctl-C (or %-C on Mac):
1, Select entities to copy;
2, Ctl-C
3, Select Reference point;
4, switch to another drawing;
5, Ctl-V
6, Select a target point;
Make sure the scaling factor is comparable in the target drawing, otherwise, the pasted might be invisible, due to zooming factors.

I have two drawings on the board .I want to copy a nut from one drawing to the other.
On the first I select the nut , move/copy,enter and pick a reference point .
Now I want to get that into the clipboard so I can paste it in the second drawing so I have tried various methods like menu,copy,paste but nothing shows up on the second drawing .
What is the exact process of keys please?
