Thank you for your reply.
Chat with other people that use or develop LibreCAD. You could connect here :
https://webchat.freenode.net and join the #librecad channel
< I have signed up at webchat.freenote.net, it’s just that I have no idea how to use it. I tried to post a slightly different version of my initial post, but was unsuccessful. I’ll try to find a reference to Internet Relay Chat Networks in general and see if I can gain a greater understanding. >
2) Why is a separate registration for LibreOffice© and LibreCAD© needed?
Except for the name similarity (Libre) there is no relation between the two projects.
< Ah, an easily made mistake then. >
3) There does not seem to be a sub-forum for new folk.
you can just ask your question in the appropriate forum, we at LibreCAD don’t feel there is a need for a seperate forum for new users. Most people have a technical background and can ask the right question in the right forum.
< Okay, understood. I have read a few of the posts now, and there does seem to be a number of first time users. While I do have a technical background, neither being a Plumber or a HVACR technician provide much in the way of a useful basis for CAD, one does learn to read plans and at least be able to free-hand what you actually did, etc. Warning, Trades person joke: A Carpenter is someone who knows how to cover-up their mistakes. A Plumber is a person who knows how to make it look like the mistakes that they made were what was intended in the first place. >
4) There doesn’t seem to be a post of forum rules, not even; Now play nice people.
We all agree that we know how to be nice and ask a question smartly, so far we don’t have a lot of issue on the forum except for spam.
< Okay, understood, however it’s a rare forum that doesn’t seem to bring out the unpleasant aspects of people, myself included. >
5) If there is moderation, it’s not evident to me.
We do moderate but it’s 99.99% spam and we just delete the post and block the person.
We are not doing a lot of ‘move post to XYZ because of ABC’ type of moderation. Personally I am not a big fan of baby sitting, I know some other forums do that but I have no idea where people get the time from to moderate posts...
I’ve never really understood the time commitment aspect of being a moderator either, and then there is the unpleasantness…
6) how does one remove / delete / cut entities.? Well Okay, I did figure this out after much trial and error, however, I couldn’t find a reference to this function in the on-line manual.
There are some tutorials on youtube aswell.. It’s perhaps a bit awkward, but one can get used to it quickly.
< Ah, I’ll go look at youtube then, with any reasonable fortune I’ll end up with a broader basis for questions. >
Respectfully, Librecadni10
