Yes, LibreCAD uses it's own fonts, in .lff format. You can't use system fonts.
There is a tool, ttf2lff.exe for the windows version, where you can convert a ttf to an lff, but it depicts the outline of a letter without filling, no real sticky font, as basic in CAD. I don't know if it's available in the linux version.
