Hatches were a bit difficult to me also at start.

LibreCAD requires a gapless  line to restrict the hatch area. If your search the forum, many have asked about hatching.

I usually draw  a line around the area using hatch color before hatching.

I suggest also reading some docs, links are at the top of the main page.

And maybe practice first with some simpler entities to get familiar.
