The CNC operates from a g-code file, a file with an extension of.ngc (if I remember correctly).

The program to create that code uses dxf or bmp files.

The link you posted didn't address my question but it gives great information.

Look at https://dokuwiki.librecad.org/doku.php/tutorial:carport if you are thinking of scanning it and redrawing it. (I'd rotate it first so you can read the writing.)
