You gave me some new information about the correct way to navigate
Tools > Modify > Properties.

Turns out it was a "layering" issue and as soon as I set the line "layer"
value to "0"  for the element the intensity changed.

Now I have to figure out how to reset the default layer value to "0" for the drawing
so my new elements are not referencing a layer from an inserted symbol element
I used earlier.

There's a learning curve here no doubt. I appreciate your input.
