I'm in the same situation - by looking at the post, there don't look to be a reply to this. GT&D can get deep in a hurry but rather simple once understood.

My CAD background starts with DOS based Autocad and about every brand in between to modern day 3d apps. What i can say from that is Libracad is an excellent 2d app that will hopefully include GD&T sometime in the future. I would pay for a plugin / add-on if it were available.
