Converting from dwg to dxf before opening in LibreCAD?

Trikester
My 2007 dwg drawings have some problems when I open them in LibreCAD. So I want to try converting them to dxf prior to opening them. I read elsewhere in this forum that LibreCAD wants R14 (2007) dxf files. I installed the conversion program linked in that topic.

It gave me two choices of R14 2007 dxf files. One is "ASCII" and the other is "BINARY". Which of these should I choose to convert to in dxf for use in LibreCAD?

I'm a retired dinosaur - an electronic analog circuit (transistors, resistors, capacitors, & diodes) & digital "hard wired" system designer (flip flops, one shots, & gates) - so I know little about software.
