File Type pdf Standards

electrosteam
Printed some simple drawings to file as file type pdf, loaded them to a USB stick, and took them to an OfficeWorks centre to have them printed.
The centre machines could not read the files.

These files were produced on a Lubuntu machine and read fine on a Windows 10 machine.

Are there variations in pdf files ?
If so, how do I correct them ?

There are different pdf versions existing. I myself have never encountered a situation where a pdf could not be read, but it is possible. You might try one of the "pdf version converter" apps to be found in the internet. Or as you have produced the pdf on a linux machine, there might also be differences between "export as pdf" from within LibreCAD and printing through the standard Linux pdf printing procedure.
An advanced pdf viewer app usually can show the used pdf version.
Testing, testing...

I have run into this before.  Try another USB stick.  The stick I had read fine on many different computers except one.  I used a different stick and had no further problems.  I don't know what was different with that one computer.

Tried the USB stick on a Windows 10 machine.
It does not identify them as pdf files, but will open them with Adobe Acrobat, and print them.

This is still a mystery that I will pursue further.
So, open to other lines of investigation.

I have other associated issues, subject of a new thread.

Changed approach from "Print-to-File" to "Export-to-PDF'.
Fought some battles with exporting (see companion thread), all saved to the same USB.

Back to OfficeWorks, read and printed fine.

There are several mysteries with LC generated pdf files.
