Your obviously still a "young" forum but I can see that already you are more welcoming than the QCAD forum, this is a good thing because it will grow better and have good input from users not just "developers" and programmers etc.
Unfortunately I find that on the QCAD forum there seems to be a very strong wall up against the posting of user queries with attached images, although I can see the potential problems with this - sometimes its a lot easier to communicate your "user" problems with images! My questions are: 1. Do you allow screenshots to uploaded on this forum? 2. Do you allow users to upload PDF`s of "Tips & Tricks" on this forum? 3. Do you intend to have a "PRO" version to buy in the future? 4. Do you allow users to help by writing some Tutorials for LibreCAD? |

Yes we do 2. Do you allow users to upload PDF`s of "Tips & Tricks" on this forum? Yes, but we are planning for a WIKI for that some time in the feature, that would be a better place for the tips/tricks then a forum 3. Do you intend to have a "PRO" version to buy in the future? Nope LibreCAD will always be open source. 4. Do you allow users to help by writing some Tutorials for LibreCAD? Yes, also this is planned (tome is a issue here) where we want to have the manual created by means of a WIKI, then exported capabilities to PDF and a build in help system.

Ok - you say LibreCAD will always be "open source"
What is your Vision for LibreCAD? What "extra" features will you bring in? Where will your funding come from? and - can it be used for Commercial work or for just Home use? |

For example we have user from Africa and China, and I have received personal thank you mails they they are happy that there is a 2D CAD tool that's free and open source.
I am sure this was not a personal question, so I will speak for the community. I think the biggest 'feature' LibreCAD will bring is that it's a community project, we are accepting patches from the community and frequently pull requests are merged into master when they are coded correctly and benefit LibreCAD generally. LibreCAD's codebase is compilable on Windows, OSX and linux without modifications to any of the sources (in master this might not always be true, but for releases this is a requirement). which is a big plus in comparison to the old QCAd CE code.
We accept donations which pays the bill for the hosting of the blog, the website, the translations server.
It's license according to GPLv2, so you can do whatever you want with it as long as you stick to the GPLv2 license. That means, you can use it for work, and for home. You can even create a business around it, however, when you sell LibreCAD to your clients with your modifications, you are obligated to give them the source when they ask for it (or just give it right away….) You can see what features people would like and submit your own requests. And if you'd like to implement a feature, you can submit a patch and it will be incorporated for everyone to use. To see how new features are added all the time, check out: http://librecad.1049103.n5.nabble.com/Suggestion-isometric-grid-td4937452.html |
